USAF has used Predator drone strike to destroy the rocket launcher which was being used against the civilians. Pentagon has confirmed that first Predator drone attack was conducted against the Multiple Rocket Launcher in Misrata.
First Predator drone attack was conducted in the area of Misrata in the early afternoon. Pentagon has yet not released any further information on the subject.
In another drone attack against the Libya, United States has been able to wipe out a surface to air defense missile system of the Russian origin.
Air defense system in question was Russian SA-8 Gecko (also known as 9K33 Osa) which uses air defense missiles with range of 10 to 15 kilometers. Libya is believed to have around 20 such air defense systems.
So far NATO fighter jets have carried out nearly 3600 missions of which nearly 1500 were attack sorties.
